Saturday Storytime – first Saturday of the month
Saturday Storytime is designed for ages preschool through 3rd grade in the Library from 11-11:30 on the first Saturday of each month – October 5, November 2, December 7, January 4, February 1, March 7, April 4, May 2. A story and snack are included. There is no registration, just show up!
Breakfast with a Book – second Saturday of the month
The Library’s book discussion group typically meets in the Library at 9am on the second Saturday morning of each month (September-May). Participants enjoy coffee and treats while discussing the selected book. Book selections for 2019-20 include Where the Crawdads Sing by Della Owens on October 12; Moloka’i by Alan Brennert on November 9; Love Comes Softly by Janette Oke on December 14; Queen Bee by Dorothea Benton Frank on January 11, 2020; February 8 – Tending Roses by Lisa Wingate; The Boy Who Harnessed the Wind by William Kamkwamba on March 14; Educated by Tara Westover on April 11; Breakthrough by Joyce Smith on May 9. A copy of all featured books is available at the Library. Email or stop in if you have questions; and join us if you have read the chosen book.
Winter Reading Program
The Winter Reading Program is entitled “Blind Date with a Book” and runs January 13-March 13, 2020. Chosen books are gift-wrapped, clues attached to help determine interest, and divided into two groups – adults and children. Check out the book, take it home and unwrap it. Books are evaluated upon return and the reader entered into one of two prize drawings held at the end of the program. Stop in to check out one of the Reading Program selections to participate. Missoula Children’s Theater is a great theater opportunity for students in Kindergarten-8th Grade. Auditions/Rehearsal for the 2020 MCT production of “Snow Queen” will be held March 23-26 at the Kindred High School; sign up here using signup genius. Registration is on a first come/first serve in age brackets, with a 60-student max.
This Missoula event is co-sponsored by the Kindred PTO, the Kindred Public Library, and the Kindred Area Arts Partnership (KAAP).

Kindred currently has two Little Free Library locations in Kindred – one located near Gilbertson Park and the other near the City Park. These little libraries are restocked regularly; feel free to “take a book, leave a book”!
NOTE: The Gilbertson Park location will be closed until Spring 2020 to avoid dealing with access issues during snowy winter months.
Open House and free root beer floats – watch for more info in 2020!
This fun fundraiser features creatively-decorated tables sponsored by volunteer hostesses. Wine, appetizers and dessert are served, and a purse raffle is held. Tickets for this fun evening, as well as additional information, will be available mid-summer.
Trick or Treat at the Library – October 31
Add the Kindred Public Library to your stops on Halloween. The light will be on!
Tour of Homes – November 22, 12noon-5pm
“Come Home for the Holidays” is the Library’s annual Tour of Homes fund raiser. Tickets for the tour can be purchased in advance or at the Library where coffee, cider and treats are available to enjoy. You can also check out the display of baskets for the Gift Basket Raffle. This is a great afternoon outing for friends, families, and/or couples. Contact the Library if you would like your home on the Tour or for further information.
Kindred City Holiday Decoration
Residents of the city of Kindred are encouraged to participate in this community-wide event by decorating the outside of their home/yard for the holidays. Participants complete an application form and prizes are awarded! Complete rules are available with the contest applications. This is a good opportunity to be creative, be festive, and have fun!!
