Saturday Storytime – first Saturday of the month

Saturday Storytime is designed for ages preschool through 3rd grade in the Library on the first Saturday of each month – October-May. A story and snack are included. There is no registration, just show up!

Breakfast with a Book – second Saturday of the month

The Library’s book discussion group typically meets in the Library on the second Saturday morning of each month (September-May). Participants enjoy coffee and treats while discussing the selected book. The 2019-20 season will start on Saturday, September 14, with The Island of Sea Women by Lisa See. Discussion books for the season will be determined at that time. A copy of all featured books is available at the Library. Email or stop in if you have questions; and join us if you have read the chosen book.

Winter Reading Program

The Library’s theme for the 2019 Winter Reading Program was Movie vs Book. There are so many books on our shelves that are now also movies; stop in any time of year to see what is available!

Summer Reading Program – May 28-August 16, 2019

“Read Around the World” is available for readers of all ages as part of the Library’s Summer Reading Program. Pick up your passport at the Library and start on your trip through the pages!

Little Free Library anniversary – July 18, 2019

Kindred currently has two Little Free Library locations in Kindred – one located near Gilbertson Park and the other near the City Park. In commemoration of their first anniversary, free lemonade and cookies will be available at both locations on Thursday, July 18, from 5:30-7:30 p.m. Stop by to see what Little Free Libraries are all about! A special thanks to Tony Kramer, Kindred, for sharing his enthusiasm and construction talents in getting them started in our community.

Summer Arts Safari Theater Program – August 5-9, 2019

Summer Arts Safari Theater camp is presented by the Kindred Public Library as a theater opportunity for kids ages 6-14. The camp is typically held in late July/early August.
Information about the 2020 program will be available in Spring 2020.

Festival of Tables – August 13, 2019

This festive fund-raiser features creatively-decorated tables sponsored by volunteer hostesses; it was held at St. Maurice Church, Kindred. Wine, appetizers and dessert are served, and a purse raffle is held. Tickets for this fun evening are available in mid-summer. 

Trick or Treat at the Library – October 31

Add the Kindred Public Library to your stops on Halloween. The light will be on from 5:30-7:30!

Tour of Homes – November 24 (tentative)

The Library’s annual Tour of Homes fund raiser features area homes (both in town and rural) and is usually held the Sunday before Thanksgiving. Typically, tickets are purchased in advance or at the Library on the day of the Tour. Coffee, cider and treats are available to enjoy while you check out the display of baskets featured on the Basket Raffle. This is a great afternoon outing for friends, families, and/or couples. Contact the Library with questions or if you would like your home on the 2019 Tour.

Kindred City Holiday Decoration Contest –

Residents of the city of Kindred are encouraged to participate in this
community-wide event by decorating the outside of their home/yard for the holidays. Participants complete an application form and judging takes place before Christmas. Prizes are awarded! Complete rules are available with the contest applications. This is a good opportunity to be creative, be festive, and have fun!!
