Breakfast with a Book
The Library’s book discussion group meets at 9am in the Library on the second Saturday of each month, September-May, and on the third Wednesday during June-July-August. All book selections are chosen from those available at KPL. Coffee/tea will be served, and occasionally a continental breakfast! Anyone who has read the chosen book is invited to join one or all sessions. Email or stop in if you have questions.

July 12 … Eleanor Oliphant is completely fine by Gail Honeyman
August 9 … Mrs. Lincoln’s Sisters by Jennifer Chiaverini
September 9 … Spare by Prince Harry (this discussion starts the 2023-24 gatherings)
Storytime
Storytime is typically held the 3rd Saturday and following Monday of each month, September-May. Children Preschool-grade 3 meet at the Library for stories and snacks. Details for a Summer Storytime will be available soon!
Summer Reading Program – June 1-July 31, 2023
Reading is a Blast is for all ages – kids, teens and adults. The Reading Challenge List will be available at the Library from June 1-July 31. The list is also available for download here and on the Library’s Facebook page.
Complete three reading challenges and two activities for a prize. Return completed sheets to the Kindred Public Library no later than July 31 to receive a prize AND have your name entered in the grand prize drawing.
Summer Theater Camp – July 10-14, 2023
The Friends of the Kindred Public Library is pleased to bring your child a summer theater camp opportunity at the Davenport Community Center! The leaders of Summer Arts Safari will lead the camp for Willy Wonka Jr!
Summer Arts Safari is a musical performance camp that provides a fun and unique musical theater experience for kids grade K-8. The college-age troop from East Grand Forks, MN, will hold a short audition on the first day of camp to place students in appropriate roles. Camp days are filled with games, theater activities and preparing for the Friday show.

Story Walk – 2023
Story Walk is a joint project between the Kindred Public Library and the Kindred Park Board. The project is held June-September when participants are encouraged to follow posted signs an unguided route in the city of Kindred to read individual pages from the current book selection. Watch for 2023 information in June!
Trick or Treat at the Library – October 31, 2023
The Kindred Public Library encourages children to stop at the Library on their Halloween route. The light will be on for Halloween!
Little Free Libraries
The Kindred Public Library maintains two Little Free Library locations in Kindred – one located near the Gilbertson Park playground and the other near the City Park. Feel free to stop to “take a book, leave a book”! The little libraries are restocked regularly with reading materials for all ages.
Festival of Tables – August 8, 2023
Creatively-decorated tables, donated purses with secret contents, volunteering at the event, and mostly a fun experience with friends … these are all part of the Library’s Festival of Tables fundraiser. The planning committee is currently looking for hostesses and volunteers. Participation supports the programs and materials of the Library. Email the Library!
Kindred Community Days Open House – August 12, 2023
Watch for more information about the August 11-13 Community Days celebration! Special activities are typically planned outdoors near the Library following the annual parade and the Library’s book sale room is available, as well as book checkout in the Library … it is a fun day for the whole family!
Tour of Homes – November 2023
This enjoyable afternoon with friends is a good way to kick off the holiday season since the Tour of Homes is typically held the Sunday before Thanksgiving. This community-wide event is available thanks to the efforts of the Friends of the Kindred Public Library. Contact the Library if you are interested in helping as a homeowner, volunteer or donation of a basket; more information available in Fall 2023!
