The Kindred Public Library is celebrating its 20th Birthday in 2022!
Public Hearing – Building Purchase Proposal approved
The purchase of the Library building was approved by the Kindred City Council on September 7, 2022! This purchase ensures the Library will remain and continue to grow in its current location.
The Building Purchase Proposal presented to the City Council is available for your review; paper copies are also available at the Library. Also included here are Fun Facts about Kindred Public Library.
“Save the Library Building” includes options for how to support the Library through your donation.

Story Walk – 2022
Story Walk is a joint project between the Kindred Public Library and the Kindred Park Board. Follow the posted signs along an unguided route in the city of Kindred to read individual pages from the current book selection. The current Story Walk selection for July and August is Happy Birthday Moon by Frank Asch.
Trick or Treat at the Library – October 31, 2022
Add the Kindred Public Library to your stops on Halloween. We will be open from 5-7pm on Monday, the 31st. The light will be on!
Little Free Libraries
The Kindred Public Library maintains two Little Free Library locations in Kindred – one located conveniently near the Gilbertson Park playground (open April-November) and the other near the City Park (open year round). The little libraries are restocked regularly with reading materials for all ages. Feel free to stop to “take a book, leave a book”!
Tour of Homes – November 20, 2022
In coordination with Kindred Area Arts Partnership, area vendors, Uptown Eatery and pleasant weather, the Library’s Tour of Homes was an enjoyable day for the entire family! A huge thank you to the homeowners for decorating their beautiful houses; the many businesses and patrons who donated baskets/prizes for the raffles; dedicated volunteers serving as home hostesses, in the Library, or behind the scenes; and all those who supported the Library with their ticket purchases. All Library proceeds from the Tour of Homes will support the Save the Library Building fund.
Festival of Tables – August 9, 2022
THANK YOU to those who hosted a table, donated a purse/contents, volunteered at the Library’s Festival event, or attended as a guest – your participation supported the programs and materials of the Library. The annual Festival of Tables fundraiser/purse raffle is one of two major fundraisers hosted by Friends of the Kindred Public Library
Kindred Community Days Open House – August 13, 2022
Special activities were planned outdoors as part of the kickoff for the Library’s 20th Anniversary; a historical video was available in the Library and the book sale room was open. A fun time was had by all!
